Yes, sometimes we are so lucky to find an underwater leopard. They might not be as big as the african cat but is as colourful as that one.
The special thing with this one is that the conch or shell is pure white but what it gave that special colour is its mantle.
When this beautiful snail feels danger immediatly gets in its conch and retract its mantle showing a white shell.
To get this «macro» image, I have to be as steady as a rock because the DOF is very shallow so I need a perfect bouyancy and hold the bulky underwater camera as stiff as I could. The result was this image that I hope you like it.

Note: It is called «Caracol leopardo» in spanish but in english its called «Flamingo tongue snail» (Cyphoma gibbosum)
Este incredible caparazón blanco se convierte en esto …
Sí, a veces tenemos tanta suerte de encontrar un leopardo submarino. Puede que no sean tan grandes como el gato africano, pero son tan coloridos como ese. Lo especial de este es que el caracol o concha es de un blanco puro pero lo que le dio ese color especial es su manto. Cuando este hermoso caracol siente peligro se mete de inmediato en su caracola y retrae su manto mostrando una concha blanca.
Para obtener esta imagen «macro», tengo que estar tan firme como una roca porque el DOF es muy poco profundo, por lo que necesito una flotabilidad perfecta y sujetar la voluminosa cámara submarina lo más rígida que pueda. El resultado fue esta imagen que espero les guste. Disfrutar.
