Bogotá es una ciudad que ha sido construida sobre una sabana inundable, en la actualidad ocupa 177.500 ha construidas, de las cuales solo 675 ha corresponden a sus húmedales, algo como el 0,38% de la superficie. Es preocupante la reducción que constantemente se realiza a estos ecosistemas que por muchas personas son considerados terrenos baldios.
Este es un proyecto artístico en curso, donde planeo continuar visitando estos magníficos espacios para poder crear imagenes que nos llenen de interés y posiblemente concientice a las personas que aún continuan destruyendo estos lugares.
Todas las imágenes son presentadas con una parte oscura y fría en la mitad superior que pretende mostrar la crítica situación de presión a la que se ven sometidas las especies; pero con un color cálido en el fondo, lo que significa la esperanza por la protección y supervivencia de muchas especies que han sido nuestras vecinas durante muchos siglos. Wetland life
living in one of the most populous cities in Latin America, I consider it urgent that awareness of the importance of preserving these ecosystems be taken. We have a responsibility not only to the water, but to all other species who call these unique places home.
Bogotá is a city that has been built on a floodable savannah, it currently occupies 177,500 built hectares, of which only 675 hectares correspond to its wetlands, something like 0.38% of the surface. The reduction that is constantly being made to these ecosystems, which by many people are considered wastelands, is worrying.
This is an ongoing artistic project, where I plan to continue visiting these magnificent spaces in order to create images that fill us with interest and possibly raise awareness among the people who continue to destroy these places.
All the images are presented with a dark and cold part in the upper half that aims to show the critical situation of pressure to which the species are subjected; but with a warm color in the background, which means hope for the protection and survival of many species that have been our neighbors for many centuries.
